My Current Favourite Skincare Product – Vichy’s Idealia Peeling

I’d say I’m using this product about two months now and I still have half the bottle left! I absolutely love it. No word of a lie, the very next morning after the first time I used it, I noticed such a difference in my skin…it was so much softer and my make up went on so so well! I couldn’t get over the difference it made. Two months on and my skin is healthier and definitely more radiant looking.

When and how to use

It’s for night time use only. You apply it, using a dry cotton pad, before your regular serum and moisturiser and it works it’s magic overnight. The next morning you cleanse your face as normal and it’s vital you apply a full factor SPF 50 because the product makes your skin more sensitive to light. You can read all about my go to SPF here => Skin Cancer – Prevention is key…SPF is vital! The way Vichy has formulated Idealia Peeling, makes it safe to use on sensitive skins, but if you’re worried, there’s no harm in doing a patch test in the pharmacy first, leave on 24 hours and if you don’t get a reaction you’re good to go!

Vichy Idealia Peeling

The Science

Glycolic Acid

The main active ingredient is glycolic acid. With any product containing glycolic acid, it’s important to slowly introduce it into your skincare routine, which will give your skin time to get used to it. I’d recommend you start using the Vichy Idealia Peeling every second night for a week, and then every night thereafter.

A lot of people, when they see the word “acid”, they automatically think “burn” or that it may hurt, but this is not the case. Glycolic Acid is completely safe and does not hurt at all. It is from the family of naturally occurring acids called, Alpha Hydroxy Acids(AHA’s). Glycolic acid, specifically, is from sugar cane. It removes the top layer of dead skin cells while thickening up the deeper layers making our skin firmer. It’s benefits include –

  •  encourages cell renewal, helping to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, dark spots
  • as it increases desquamation(shedding away of dead skin cells) of the skin it helps our skin become smoother, and noticeable softer to the touch.
  • helps reduce congestion(the little bumps that can often be felt on cheeks and forehead) under the surface of the skin
  • it’s a type of enzymatic exfoliator, which exfoliates away dead skin cells, helping to brighten tired, dull skin making it healthier and more radiant
  • amazing for treating blackheads, and reducing excess oil
  • can be used to treat ingrown hairs after waxing
  • can be used to treat Keratosis Pilaris, also known as “chicken skin” which affects 45% of the population and often seen as a group of red spots/bumps most commonly on the upper arms

My Recommendations

This product is currently my favourite because it can help ALL SKIN TYPES, and the results are almost immediate! It is so so versatile, if you have dry/dehydrated skin it will smooth away any roughness and if you have oily/combination skin it will fight blackheads and spots. It’s anti-aging benefits are second to none in the way it reduces fine lines and pigmentation, and I think this is where the product really shines.

Packed full of anti-oxidants of blueberry and black tea it fights free radicals in the skin to reveal that healthier looking skin we all want!

I think this is a must have for anybody looking to up their skincare game or if you’re a bride to be or have a big event coming up. I’d suggest using it 3 months prior to the big day to get the best results. Hand on heart, it is one product that will be forever in my skincare routine and it takes a lot for a product to impress me this much. If you’re looking for something that will make your skin look like it’s glowing from within, Vichy Idealia Peeling will not let you down. It costs €30 from Dowling’s Pharmacy, Ardkeen Stores, Waterford or google search your nearest Vichy stockists.

About me – Who am I?

(NOTE – This is not a sponsored post and I was not paid to give a good review.  Fiona, from Dowling’s Pharmacy sent it out to me for my consideration and for me to give my opinion on it, good or bad. When I am sent something I use it for at least 4 weeks(sometimes more), research all the ingredients, see it’s effectiveness and then share with you my own experience with the product.

To me the single most important thing about blogging is TRUST and I wouldn’t want to ruin the trust I have built up with my readers by recommending something that’s not very good. I will never put my name to a mediocre product.)
