MUA Focus – Lucy Bradley

This is my fourth edition of MUA Focus, where I find out some of my favourite makeup artists beauty secrets and must haves. Tonight’s post is dedicated to the stunning and ridiculously talented Lucy Bradley. Myself and Lucy are both from Dunmore East, in Waterford but i didn’t know her until I started following her on SNAPCHAT!!! If you’re not following her already…YOU HAVE TO!!!Search >lbmakeup< She often does really easy to follow tutorials, with makeup looks that would inspire you to go off and paint your face like a boss. I could watch her Snapchat tutorials all day. The girl is hilarious too and always has me laughing. Lucy is the one responsible for the whole of Waterford owning the Catrice Camouflage Cream Concealer, as you will always see it featured in her Snapchat in covering any spots or blemishes. Throughout this post you will see photos of Lucy’s work, they are all her own photo’s.

I cannot stress how skilled she is, she is self taught and first got into makeup when she was 15, she is now 17 with serious talent that literally drips all over her Instagram feed >lucybradley_12< She became so good at makeup by always practicing different looks and techniques and loves watching YouTube tutorials. She creates stunning looks and I just love how her highlight is ALWAYS gleaming!! She just recently set up a Facebook page so, make sure you give her a follow >LBMakeup< I asked Lucy the questions we all want to know, her go to products and makeup tools. have the notepads at the ready!!!

1. Primer&why

It would have to be the La Roche Posay Effaclar Mat Moisturiser. It’s a mattifying moisturiser, which for my oily skin, is perfect as a primer as it helps keep oils at bay throughout the day.

2. Favourite Foundation&why

My favourite foundation by a mile would be the Kat Von D Lock It Foundation. For blemish prone skin like mine this foundation creates a flawless base, as it is so full coverage one pump does the job. It’s also extremely long wearing and wouldn’t need to be powdered throughout the day.

3. Favourite Highlight&why

A new favourite highlight of mine would be Becca’s Champagne Pop. This highlighter is to die for and is worth every cent. I do love an intense glow and this highlight does exactly that!

4. Favourite Eyeshadows&why

Either be Inglot or Make Up Geek, they both have crazy pigmentation but are also so creamy and easy to blend as well as being affordable!

5. Favourite Mascara&why

I can’t say that I have a favourite mascara, I’ll use any mascara, as I am a huge lover of lashes, so mascara wouldn’t be an essential for me.

6. Favourite Lashes&why

Probably  ‘Anna’ from Glam and Co. They’re so whispy and full but really bring any eye look together.

7. Do you prefer cream or powder contour or do you do both?

I haven’t mastered the whole cream contouring business just yet, so powder would have to be my go to.

8. What is your go to brush/sponge to apply foundation?

My new go to foundation brush would be the foundation brush from the Glam and Co candy twist face kit. It buffs the foundation in flawlessly without soaking up a lot of product.

9. What is you favourite fluffy brush for blending eyeshadow?

Sadly, I don’t know if this brush is still available but it’s from a brush set called Ruby, which I got in Mulligan’s when I was 14 in a brush set. No matter what look I’m doing this fluffy brush will be used.

10. If you could only use one makeup product for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I would probably pick strobe cream or a liquid illuminator. When I’m having good skin days and don’t plan on wearing make up I’ll pop this on over my moisturiser just to give a healthy looking glow.

11. Is there any product that’s relatively inexpensive that you swear by?

The Catrice Camouflage Cream Concealer definitely. Anyone who follows me knows this is my go to for covering blemishes and it’s only around €3.50 which is a steal!

12. What are your makeup must haves in your bag on a night out?

Usually, I’ll only bring whatever lipstick I’m wearing as my make up wouldn’t really need to be powdered.

13. What one piece of advice would you give to a make up artist trying to get their name out there?

My tips would probably be to use the likes of Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook to promote your work as much as possible, and even to be constantly practicing and trying new techniques so you’re skills are always improving.

14. What are your top 3 skincare products?

My 3 favourite skin care products are Nip and Fab Glycolic Fix Scrub, Image Skincare Oil Free Restoring Serum and lastly, Garnier’s Micellar Water.

15. If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?

I can’t really say I’d have any as I am still fairly young.

16. Are there any makeup artists either Irish or internationally who inspire you?

Diane Everett would definitely be one for me, she works so hard and does an amazing job at everything she does. Internationally I would have to pick Jamie Genevieve as I’ve followed her from the start on YouTube and it’s fantastic to see how far she’s come.

17. Are there any women in business who inspire you?

Aoife Murphy owner of Glam and Co, would 100% be most inspirational business woman. She only began the business a year ago and it couldn’t be doing better. She’s also an extremely talented make up artist who’s worked for the best of brands. Not only is she extremely talented and a hard worker you couldn’t meet anyone more down to earth.

18. What is the one makeup tool you just couldn’t live without?

I would have to say my AYU angled brush from their travel set!

19. What is your favourite makeup look?

A blown out smokey spotlight eye with lots of glitter.

20. And last but not least, could you share with us your favourite makeup tip or trick?

A tip for applying lashes would be to apply the glue to your lashes and then apply them straight to your eye. Fix the lashes into place then take them off straight away, let them sit for about a minute or so leaving the glue on your lashes to get tacky and also the glue on your eye. This way your lashes will have a base to stick to on your eye but will also be tacky themselves creating extra strength so they won’t budge throughout the day!

Loved, loved, loved this Q and A with Lucy, what a brilliant tip for lashes!!! So many people use Makeup Geek Eyeshadows, they are definitely next on my hit list. I’d like to just say a massive thanks to Lucy for taking part and filling us all in on her makeup secrets.

I have been following Lucy across social media with ages now and her following continues to grow. It’s lovely to see such a young girl from my little village of Dunmore East work so hard and be so driven in achieving her goals. Her honesty is commendable and what you see is what you get. She is one of the most genuine, down to earth girls on social media and I could see her being a huge Youtuber down the line, definitely one to watch.
